David Lam, MD, is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and a fellow of the American Society for Moh’s Micrographic Surgery. He focuses on medical and surgical dermatology, specializing in Moh’s Micrographic Surgery for skin cancer. Since 2000, Dr. Lam has completed nearly 10,000 Moh’s surgeries and more than 20,000 surgical excisions for skin cancers.
Dr. Lam has excelled in every phase of his education and remained at the top of his class throughout his scholastic career. He was valedictorian of his high school class in Bowling Green, Kentucky and graduated summa cum laude from Western Kentucky University with a degree in chemistry and biology. He received his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, graduating fourth in his class with summa cum laude distinction and was elected to the Phi Kappa Alpha Honor Society.
He completed his internship in internal medicine and a dermatology residency at the University of Florida (Shands Hospital) in Gainesville. His intensive clinical training focused on medical and surgical dermatology in a fast-paced teaching hospital setting, as well as a comprehensive clinical practice. He excelled in every phase of his training, including obtaining the highest score in the country on the American Board of Dermatology exams two years in a row. During the final year of his residency, he was elected to the position of chief resident for the Department of Dermatology.
A highly skilled surgeon and clinician, he is dedicated to providing superior patient care in a comfortable clinical setting. His outstanding staff ensures that all patients receive comprehensive and compassionate treatment each and every time they visit.
Dr. Lam lives in Clearwater with his wife, and in his free time enjoys playing tennis and baseball four days a week. He also spends time cultivating his passion for photography. He loves the Tampa Bay area and looks forward to a long career of caring for his patients and their families.
